About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Application Subject Matter Expert (SME) Engineer specializing in Identity and Access Management (IAM), Access Governance, and Compliance to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting enterprise application access reviews, managing compliance operations, and ensuring audit readiness across a diverse portfolio of business-critical applications. This role serves as a technical liaison between application owners, audit teams, risk management, and security stakeholders, ensuring that access controls and compliance standards are consistently maintained and improved. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of application administration, security frameworks, and compliance processes, with the ability to analyze large datasets, troubleshoot issues, and support audit activities effectively. This position offers an opportunity to work in a highly regulated environment, contributing to the organization’s compliance posture and operational excellence.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have between 4 to 10+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, with a focus on application security, compliance, governance, or audit-related activities. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of user access management, role-based security models, application permissions, and entitlements. Experience supporting application access reviews, user entitlement processes, and identity governance frameworks is essential. Proficiency in working with enterprise platforms such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, IAM, financial, operational, or custom-developed systems is required. Additionally, candidates should have a working knowledge of SQL for data extraction, analysis, and troubleshooting, along with excellent documentation and stakeholder management skills. Experience operating within highly controlled environments with strict deadlines is vital to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Access Reviews & Compliance:

• Support application owners through quarterly access reviews (QARs), user access reviews (UARs), and annual certification processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Extract, validate, reconcile, and prepare user access and entitlement data across multiple enterprise applications, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
• Review access assignments, permissions, roles, and approval workflows to verify adherence to established policies and internal controls.
• Identify and escalate inappropriate access, orphaned accounts, segregation of duties (SoD) conflicts, and data discrepancies for remediation.
• Coordinate with application administrators and business stakeholders to implement corrective actions and maintain compliance standards.
  
  

Audit & Controls

• Manage audit cycles from initiation through completion, including collection of audit evidence, validation, and submission, maintaining alignment with regulatory standards such as SOX and ITGC.
• Support internal and external audit teams during testing, assessment, and remediation activities, ensuring audit readiness and compliance documentation.
• Document procedures, audit findings, controls, and remediation efforts in accordance with corporate and regulatory standards.
  
  

Application Operations & Data Analysis

• Maintain and monitor application access configurations necessary for review and compliance activities.
• Validate system-generated reports and reconcile access data between source applications and governance platforms.
• Leverage SQL and reporting tools to analyze large datasets, investigate anomalies, and support audit requests.
• Monitor changes to sensitive data, perform investigations, and ensure data integrity within production environments following SOPs and change management protocols.
  
  

Technical Support & Process Improvement

• Troubleshoot issues related to application, integration, automation, and data quality to ensure operational continuity.
• Support API-based integrations and data feeds used in compliance and governance processes.
• Participate in testing and validation of compliance tools, dashboards, access review platforms, and process enhancements.
• Identify and recommend opportunities to improve automation, data quality, reporting accuracy, and audit efficiency.
• Mentor junior team members and review work products to ensure quality and completeness.
